Obituary for Louzanna Marcum

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” 2 Timothy 4:7 KJV. Louzanna Crumley Marcum passed from her earthly realm into her heavenly home on Saturday, July 22, 2017. She was born the second of six children to Earl Fugate Crumley, Sr. and Rebecca May Scott Crumley on May 17, 1938. Lu’s greatest joys were loving her Lord and being mother to her two sons, Mitchell Clark (Mitch) Marcum and Markley Charles (Mark) Marcum. An avid Bible reader and studier, she supported her church in every way. Most of her life was lived in Ewing, VA where she had many family and friends and devoted her time to being a homemaker and mother.
Lu graduated from Thomas Walker High School and attended local colleges from time to time to pursue topics of her interest. Lu loved to write, corresponding with many distant friends and writing abstract stories. She also loved to read, especially about the Vietnam Conflict and collected several books on that and other subjects. Her failing eyesight prevented writing and reading in her last years, but she could carry on a well-informed discussion on a variety of subjects, remembering history, past events, and people.
In addition to her parents, Lu was preceded in death by both her sons, Mark & Mitch, sister Jennie Ella Crumley Houck and infant sister Aurelia Sue Crumley. She is survived by brothers Earl Fugate (Judy) Crumley, Jr., Walter Hugh “Dicky” (Carla) Crumley, sister Maggie Gaynell (Bob) Crumley O’Dell-Hall, nephews Mickey (Ginger) Houck, Patrick (Tammy) Houck, Mark (Verity) Brooks, J. P. (Josefina) O’Dell, nieces Ginny Lu (Pete) Carmony, Charla (David) Parton, one step-nephew Ryan Fee, four great nephews, four great nieces, one great-great nephew, several other family members and many friends.
Funeral services will at 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Crumley presiding and Brother Dicky Crumley to read the obituary. Music will be provided by The Jones Girls.
Interment will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Creech Funeral Home.
