Obituary for Thelma Rains

Thelma Rains, age 78, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehab.

She was born in Middlesboro, KY, on March 27, 1939 to the late Clarence and Nannie Hatfield Raines.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Dan Rains, Son: Logan Rains, Grandmother: Alice Hatfield, Brothers: Phillip Raines, Grant Raines, Freddie Raines, and Jerry Raines.

She is survived by the following members of her family:

Daughter: Lisa Rains Lay and companion, Ray Satterfield

Son: Bennie Rains

Grandchildren: Eric (Erin) Lay, Gena Lay, Dillon (Kelsey) Satterfield, Nina Lay, Lindsey Rains, Frank (Alexis) Rains, and Brandon (Tiffany) Rains

Great Grandchildren: Austin Lay, Kaylee Lay, Logan Reese, Kelcy Reese, Paisley Reese, Haylee Flanary, Jaylynn Baker, and Carter “Ross” Rains

Same as a son: James (Lisa) Bauer and family

Friend and caregiver: Jennifer Nash

Special brother and sister-in-law: Ray Rains and wife, Mary

Niece: Marci Rains Partin

Special thanks to the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehab family for their constant care and support during Thelma’s illness. Middlesboro Hospital 1st floor nurses station, Dr. Oculam, Dr. Epperson and Bluegrass Hospice.

Graveside services will be 11:00am on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eric Lay, Austin Lay, Dillon Satterfield, Ray Satterfield, Frank Rains and Brandon Rains.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Creech Funeral Home with Dr. William Boyd Bingham presiding.
