How hard it is to say good bye to a man who was in my life for over 58 years. I was only 2 when Emery married my sister. I don't remember spending time with them as a baby, but I'm told I did. I do remember all the jokes and stories he had about my parents and how they lived. I remember going to the Smokey Mountains with Dorothy and Emery and our family and their neighbors as a kid. I remember him eating tomatoes like an apple. My favorite memory is the last time I visited them. Emery would go every morning and get coffee at McDonalds for everyone. He offered to bring me one but I told him I din't drink coffee and asked for a Diet Coke. He came back carrying a drink tray with 3 cups of coffee...and an empty cold cup for me! He laughed all day about how he "Got me good." I never doubted his love for Dorothy. He will be missed here, but I know he is in the arms of his Sweetheart once again. Rest In Peace Emery. Kim, Junior and family- sending you long distance hugs and love.
Saying goodbye to the funniest brother-in-law ever. When I was young, I wanted a Barbie doll so bad. On Christmas Eve, we opened up family presents and the only present that looked hopeful for a Barbie inside was from him and Dorothy. I opened it last. I was so excited. The box had a picture of a car part on it. Emery laughed and said, didnt you say you wanted a fan belt?? Everyone laughed but me. I looked inside and it was a cheap, fake fashion doll. Like the 29 cent kind. It was wrapped in a pair of ugly green tights. My heart was broke. I cried so hard, Dad sent me to my room. What a cruel trick, I thought. Of course the next morning, under the tree, was a box of Barbie doll clothes (that Dorothy had made) and everything that was Barbie. But no Barbie. Someone said, look in your stocking, so I did. And there she was. i danced and hugged everyone. I was so happy. But I also remember Dorothy and Emery having tears in their eyes as I hugged them and forgave them for the trick. lolololol. So many good memories of him...........
