Obituary for Elbert Henderson

Elbert Henderson, age 86, of Clairfield, TN, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Beech Tree Manor in Jellico, TN.

He was born September 30, 1930, in Valley Creek, TN, to the late Claude and Vernie Henderson.

He attended Fonde Church of God Mountain Assembly. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. He loved working on cars, woodworking and pestering his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Tracy, Ancil, and Charles “Pebo” Henderson, and by his sister, Beulah Chavis.

He is survived by the following members of his family:

His wife of 65 years, Shirley Henderson

His children: Patricia (Bobby) Hurst, Larry (Bonnie) Henderson, Alan (Ruth) Henderson, Danny (Karen) Henderson, and Jeff (Teresa) Henderson

Brothers: Ronnie Henderson, Gene Henderson, Wayne Henderson, and Joe Henderson

Sisters: Katherine Waldroop, Evelyn Patterson, Virgie Coker, and Betty Claxton

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Fonde Church of God Mountain Assembly.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Fonde Church of God Mountain Assembly with Rev. Cecil Johnson and Rev. Lonnie Lyke presiding. Music will be provided by the church choir.

Internment will follow at the Fonde Church of God Mountain Assembly Cemetery in Fonde, KY.
